Day 9 - The long walk begins

Good evening,

Yesterday saw the end of Cemetery visits as my walk turns South Eastward and follows the approximate front line in the last weeks and days of the Great War. From now onwards, I move away from the Commonwealth section of the line and into French and American combat zones.

Looking back, my step counter estimates that I have walked 157 miles (the plan says I should have walked 115) I guess looking around 46 cemetries and two memorial parks has added the rest!

Today I crossed back from Belgium into France, covered about 18 miles but, for the first time in the ten days, felt the strain!

I have two twenty plus days ahead of me, so need to get a good night's sleep and push on. If I manage both days, I'll have got far enough ahead of my schedule to allow myself a rest day. If I can't then it's a night under the stars somewhere!

Only two photos today, Belgium countryside

Finally, I have lost 1 stone in weight in those ten days, walking for the Royal British Legion, so to paraphrase a pop star knight, if you haven't already, give us yer #@!@@%! money.......Link below
