I thought it was about time I went 'walkabout' again.

    About

In March 2020, the United Kingdom, along with the rest of the world, was struggling to contain the COVID-19 outbreak. The country saw all pubs closed from Friday 20th March ad then the whole country placed into lock-down on Monday 23rd March. Lock-down meant no sports, no social interaction and no visiting anyone from outside your own household.

The country stopped completely, with people stuck inside and restricted to one hours exercise per day. The weather, of course, decided to deliver the driest and sunniest April and May on record!

On Monday 01st June 2020, the lock-down was eased allowing unlimited exercise as long as you returned to your own home each evening, I saw my chance!!

Bored, I decided to undertake a lock-down walk around the Cornish Coast path. The challenge would be that I would need to return home each evening, so would have to break the walk down into sections that would allow me to walk back each day.

So now the challenge was to walk the coast path twice!!

So starting on 01st June 2020, with a rough plan to finish the walk by 31st July 2020, I started walking sections of the coast path. My walk in 2018 ended up being some 336 miles, this walk would total 574 miles if I completed it.

As some of you may know, I am the standard bearer for the Royal British Legion Dartmoor Branch and, being as the COVID-19 restrictions had already led to the cancellation of several fundraising events, I thought I'd try and raise a bit of money for Dartmoor branch funds at the same time. However, with people not working an receiving 80% of their salary (if they were fortunate enough to keep their jobs) I set a target of just £574.00 - the equivalent of just £1 per mile.

In this Blog I will record my thoughts, joy and pain during the walk and updates on my fundraising and progress.

I hope you enjoy reading about my adventures - to start press the BLOG button at the top of the page.
