A pleasant Sunday stroll for the wife and I today.
We start by walking through the MOD land at Tregantle. Firing ranges dot the landscape and I can't help but be impressed over the distances of some of them (anywhere up to 1000 yards).

The beach you can see in the picture above is closed during live firing exercises, as is this part of the coastal path (a diversion follows the road almost all the way to Portwrinkle).
The path eventually leaves the Tregantle fort area after crossing an area that is used for artillery training. Targets are towed across the bay by RN ships and fired upon from gun emplacements on the cliff side, leading to the beaches, footpath and a large area of the sea being closed during live fire exercises.
Once off the Tregantle area, Whitsand Bay golf club is the next 'hazard' as the path crosses a couple of holes, meaning an awareness of flying golf balls is required.
The path drops down into Portwrinkle, a small village with a rocky beach (pictured).
We notice as we walk down into the village that a large percentage of the newly built homes are all holiday lets. Not great for local people that need housing, but a trend that is still growing. An example of this is the large building on the inland side of the road. Formerly the rather grand Whitsand Bay Hotel, it now stands deserted. Rumour has it that it has been brought by a property developer who is seeking planning permission to turn it into holiday let flats!

No politics today, yesterdays protests in major cities have been mainly peaceful, but not entirely.
